Waver (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our voice-to-text application.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and a securely hashed password.
Audio Recordings: Audio recordings are processed in real-time for transcription. Recordings may be stored on our servers if you choose to save them for playback.
Notes & Content: Your transcribed and rewritten notes are stored securely on our servers to enable sync across devices.
Usage Data: We collect basic usage analytics such as feature usage, session duration, and error reports to improve the app.
Location Data: If you grant permission, we use your GPS location solely to determine applicable tax rates during checkout.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information exclusively to:
- Provide voice-to-text transcription and AI rewriting services
- Store and sync your notes across devices
- Process payments and manage your subscription
- Calculate applicable taxes based on your location
- Send important account notifications
- Improve and maintain our services
4. AI Processing & Third-Party AI Services
To power Waver’s AI features, we send your data to the following third-party AI services. Before any data is sent, we ask for your explicit consent inside the app. If you decline, AI features are disabled.
Google (Gemini API)
What is sent: text transcripts, prompts, images you scan, and AI chat queries.
Used for: text rewriting, summarisation, translation, AI chat, image and video generation, mind maps, study guides, and other AI features.
Provider policy: Gemini API Terms. Google does not use API content to train its models.
Groq (Whisper API)
What is sent: audio recordings.
Used for: speech-to-text transcription.
Provider policy: Groq Privacy Policy. Groq does not retain or train on API audio.
NVIDIA NIM (Parakeet/Canary)
What is sent: audio recordings (English speech only).
Used for: high-accuracy English transcription as a fallback to Groq.
Provider policy: NVIDIA Privacy Policy.
Your data is never used to train any AI model. All transmissions use TLS encryption. You can revoke AI consent any time by clearing your app data, and you can delete your account to remove all stored notes.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with a cost factor of 12. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties except:
- Payment processing through Lemon Squeezy (for subscription management)
- AI service providers (for transcription and text processing only)
- When required by law or legal process
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Export your notes at any time
- Delete your account and all associated data permanently
- Opt out of non-essential communications
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your data (notes, recordings, settings, and personal information) is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.
9. Children’s Privacy
Waver is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
