The model: speaking runs about 150 words a minute, typing about 40, so the same thought takes roughly a quarter of the time to say. This assumes 21 working days a month and that every hour saved is an hour you’d otherwise have billed. It’s arithmetic on your two numbers, not a promise — treat it as an order of magnitude.

What free actually is

  • Unlimited transcription, permanently. Not 10 notes, not 5 hours, not a fair-use asterisk.
  • Every language, every platform, every capture mode — including the meeting recorder.
  • Ad-free. Nobody is being sold your attention to subsidise it.
  • No card on file, so there's nothing to forget to cancel.
  • 10 AI actions a month, which is enough to find out whether the AI is the part you want.

What it isn’t

  • It isn't a 14-day window. There is no clock running in the corner.
  • It isn't degraded transcription. Free and Premium hit the same engine — priority processing changes the queue, not the words.
  • It isn't an upsell interstitial every third note.
  • It isn't ad-supported, and it doesn't become ad-supported later without you hearing about it.

The trade is simple and we’d rather state it than imply it: free costs us almost nothing per user because transcription is cheap and the AI is not. So transcription is unlimited and the AI has a number on it. When that number starts getting in your way, Premium is $4.13 a month.

Whichever plan you’re on, it’s on every machine you own.

There is no per-device charge and no “desktop edition” to buy separately. Sign in on the phone, the laptop and the browser at your desk; it’s the same notes and the same dictionary in all three.

What exactly counts as an AI action?+
Anything where Waver does something with a transcript rather than just writing it down: a transform, a translation, a summary, a set of flashcards, a message in AI chat, or a generation in the Image, Video or Music studio. Recording, transcription, Auto Cleanup, your Personal Dictionary and Snippets never count — those are unlimited on every plan, including Free.
Do I need a credit card to start?+
No. The free plan doesn't ask for one, and there's no trial that quietly converts into a subscription. If you never enter a card, nothing ever charges you.
What happens when I use up my 10 AI actions?+
The AI features wait until next month. Recording, transcription, cleanup, dictionary and snippets keep working exactly as before — which is most of what the app does. Nothing is deleted and nothing is held hostage.
Does Premium make transcription more accurate?+
No, and we'd rather say so. It's the same engine on every plan. Premium adds priority processing when the queue is busy and takes the cap off AI actions. If you want better accuracy, the lever is the Personal Dictionary — add the names and jargon you use, and it goes to the model with your audio. That's free.
Is annual a discount or a lock-in?+
A discount. You pay for twelve months at once and each of them costs 20% less. There's no auto-escalating second year and no contract beyond the year you paid for.
Can I cancel?+
Yes. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep Premium until the period you've already paid for runs out. Where you cancel depends on where you bought — the App Store, Google Play, or your account on the web.
Why is everything in dollars? I'm not in the US.+
Because one price is easier to trust than twelve. Waver is priced in USD everywhere and your bank does the conversion at whatever rate it uses. We don't look up where the request came from and quote a different number, which is a thing that happens more often than most pricing pages admit.
Does Privacy Mode cost extra?+
No. Privacy Mode and Cloud Sync are two independent switches available on every plan, Free included. Set both and we retain nothing of yours. Turning them on doesn't remove features and doesn't move you up a tier.
Is Teams a different product?+
No — same app, same features, same everything. Teams is two things: one invoice instead of several, and a dictionary your whole team shares so a colleague's name is spelled right in everyone's notes. It's arranged over email because there's no self-serve team checkout yet.
What do I get on the desktop app that I don't get in the browser?+
A system-wide hold-to-talk Flow Bar. On Mac and Windows you can hold a key in any app and speak into it. On iPhone and iPad the Flow Bar lives inside Waver, because mobile operating systems don't hand out a global push-to-talk key. Everything else is the same, and it's the same account.
Are there ads on the free plan?+
No. There are no ads on any plan. The free tier is paid for by the people who upgrade, not by your attention.
